To put some perspective on why our conscience exists, and what it's purpose is - the arctic crane every year go to a single island, a very tiny place. How do the cranes know how to get there? Scientists can’t figure it out, if they fly in error by just 0.002 degrees, they would be off by miles. How can this be, is it evolution? They have bird brains literally! (haha) Yet they are smart enough to know to get there and yet this answer is simple - God built that in them, so they know where to go, that’s not a coincidence, that’s God. Our consciences is given to us by God, and when the world continues to tug at you constantly, your conscience can be seared. Don’t be conformed by the world, but be renewed by it. Knowing God and the scriptures will peel back the callouses, to give us an idea of what’s right and wrong, and gives us the boldness to stand up for what’s good. James saw the resurrected Jesus, and he was not willing to deny Christ. Peter turned himself over to be to be crucified on a cross, but Peter said “I’m not worthy,” to die that same death, and so he was crucified upside down.
