Jonah is one of the most reluctant and unbelieving prophets in the Bible. He tries to escape and run away only to be cast into the sea and swallowed by a whale. Returning to Nineveh to preach, his problem was not that he didn’t believe in God, but that people couldn’t change. And to his surprise , after one day the whole town repented and responded to God. We see that kind of eager response from Simon and Andrew, they hear his called to repent to receive the Gospel and immmidaltey respond. And take on a whole different way of living. It is a reminding that we should never give up on people or put them in a category where we think they can’t change not to be like Jonah and give up on people, but understand that Gods grace courses through each person indivuially, and when we believe that, when that Gods power can work in the lives of everyone, we then begin to appreciate their gifts, we listen to their voice and see what they can contribute, because more unity among us, because we respect one anther, we lack respect for, don’t appreciate each other gifts, because its too easy to look at the things that are wrong. Approach the week of Chiristian unity, The faith communities and the Christian communities have been divided have been looking at things that are different, to the point where we shun each other, and not allows us to share each others gifts, the same to is for our nation. We need nation unity, Jonah respected others, and. Jonah didn’t believe in gods power, or that other people could change, didn’t believe that he could change, at the heart of it, may that’s where it begins with us, if we want unity and respect for one another, that’s its time to believe that we can change.
